What is Happening at York University?

Nov 6, 2017
Sad Day for Academia at York University

Reports emerged that the Faculty of Environmental Studies (FES) at York University became the first faculty in the country to boycott the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies (AIES), after many years of partnership. A recent vote from the FES Faculty Council opted not to renew the relationship between FES and AIES. While the university administration is denying that it was the result of a boycott, the anti-Israel group at York says it helped ensure that the 20 year-relationship was not renewed.

AIES, which is located in Israel and ostensibly not part of any disputed territory, is a world leader in educating peoples from across the Middle East on environmental sustainability, and as a result of this move, students from York University will miss out on learning from Israel's world-class environmental best practices.

Hasbara Fellowships Canada works closely with York University's Israel advocacy club, Hasbara at York, in order to engage students and to make their voices heard in the critical battle against anti-Israel propaganda.
