Western Canada Update

Since Winter classes began, Fellows in Western Canada have been very busy!
This past weekend, the Canadian Federation of Jewish Students (CFJS) hosted a Prairie Campus Conference in Calgary, Alberta. Participating schools include Unviersity of Alberta, University of Calgary, University of Lethbridge, Mount Royal, University of Regina, University of Saskatchewan, University of Winnipeg, and University of Manitoba. A number of Hasbara Fellows also attended the conference, Matt Steen, Jesse Marantz, Staci Silverman, and Marit Abrams. The conference was a mixture of Israel Advocacy and Jewish Identity Programming. Fellows, Jesse Marantz and Staci Silverman, both on the planning committee, led a phenomenal Jewish Identity program Shabbat morning. A great weekend was had by all, Kol HaKavod to Cara Lebenzon and Aaron Silver along with the rest of the planning committee.
Heading west, the Fellows at the University of Victoria, are planning some amazing programming for the semester, and have a ton of great ideas flowing. There were two Fellows, Steven Zbarsky and Danielle Weisz, who attended our winter training program and they came back motivated and ready to advocate!
In Winnipeg, I organized a last-minute briefing a couple weeks ago with
Kalil Adar, JNF Forest Expert who spoke about the impact of the recent fires in the Carmel Forest, to a large crowd of students and community members. Fellow,
Jesse Marantz, is also working hard to prepare for Israel Week next week, which will be a week long festival celebrating Israeli culture and values. Hasbara Campaigns and a screening of A Precious Life are some of the highlights.
