The Hasbara Campus Pulse
A LOT…TAWA’s Happening! And…A McGill Friends of Israel Inaugural Event!

What’s a week without a little positive retribution?
After the Canadian National Library and Archives succumbed to intimidation and threats by the Iranian embassy, the Jan 18th screening of Iranium was cancelled. 3 weeks (and plenty of media attention and political jostling) later, the show went on! Iranium was shown to a sold out crowd of 400, with 100 left wanting outside. A big thank you to Heritage Minister Moore and the Conservative government of Stephen Harper, for their principled defense of freedom of speech.
With sincere apologies, it seems as if a couple of key events have flown under the radar of the new Campus Coordinator, happening 2 hours from his hometown…
On January 25th, Israel Awareness Committee executive member Hashem Hamdy organized a very successful 'Israeli Wine and Canadian Cheese' night. At the event, Minister John Baird and Deputy Ambassador Eliaz Luf addressed the crowd, both highlighting why they think the Canada-Israel relationship is as strong as it is today. Over 60 students of diverse political backgrounds were in attendance.
On January 31st, Hasbara Fellowships Alumnus and Hillel Ottawa Board Member Adam Moscoe organized a screening of "Precious Life" and Q+A with Dr. Raz Somech. The screening was part a national tour with Dr. Somech. Around 50-60 students were in attendance.
A belated “props” to all involved.
TONIGHT!!! McGill Friends of Israel, in conjunction with Conservative McGill will be airing Iranium, at 7pm in the Leacock Building, Room 219. This will be the inaugural event of M.F.I. and we could use the support! See event flier HERE.
