Hasbara at York University is very excited to be hosting The Honorable Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism for a speaking engagement on campus.
As some of you might remember, earlier this year Minister Kenney was caught in a scuffle for opposing George Galloway (a known financial supporter of Hamas) upon his visit to Canada. Mr. Galloway was shamefully offered a podium at our campus, paid for with our student dollars by our student government earlier this year. This semester, we the students are proud to bring Minister Kenney to campus. Minister Kenney is an avid supporter of Israel who in his own words, recognizes that the fight for Israel’s legitimacy is a fight for Western legitimacy. Additionally, this event will feature an introduction by former president of the York Federation of Students, Paul Cooper, as well as Senator Linda Frum. Minister Kenney is part of a week-long project put on by Hasbara@York that is aimed at highlighting some of the
real human rights abuses that occur in the Middle East. Also, DON'T miss
Ishmael Khalidi, former advisor to the minister of foreign affairs, Avigdor Lieberman, and the first Bedouin deputy consul of the State of Israel. He is scheduled to speak later that day.
Hasbara Fellowships is honored to be cosponsoring the event with
Hasbara at York, York Campus Conservatives, Hasbara Fellowships, B'nai Brith on Campus, Osgoode Campus Conservatives, Jewish Law Students Association, Libertarians at York, the Human Rights Activists Association at York, and Christians United for Israel (CUFI).
For more information about this event and for pro-Israel programming happening nation wide, check out the
Calendar.
