New York Update- Spotlight on Rochester University

Mar 9, 2011

By: Netanella Refael

Israel Peace Week has been the main focus on many campuses throughout the United States, and New York is no different. Rochester University students eagerly tabled all week leading to the events of IPW. Their first event of the week was a Peace Train where they had free food, a commentary video of Rochester students and faculty speaking about their connection to Israel and how peace has been impacted.

So what is a Peace Train??  The ‘peace train’ is a large visual display of train cars that showcase the various ways Israel has and is pursuing peace.

T-shirts were raffled off and nearly 100 people attended this amazing event. But the fun didn’t stop there!

The second event of the week was a lecture that was co-sponsored by the Simon School of Business at Rochester. The main topic of the lecture was the success of Israel’s economy and it was held by Dan Senor, author of ‘Start Up Nation: Israel’s Economic Miracle’. Faculty, staff, students and even alumni attended this amazing lecture.

‘Relentless’ was screened at the third event of Israel Peace Week. And the final event was Israel Peace Shabbat dinner where Israeli style food was served, and people spoke about all the events of the past week, reflecting their thoughts and feelings.
