This week in the southeast…
Dawgs for Israel at the University of Georgia will be screening the film Iranium, today March 29th at 7:30 PM in MLC 275. The film explores Iran’s clandestine nuclear program and the rise of the current regime. Dawgs for Israel will also be hosting Israel Day on April 13 in Tate Plaza.
The weekend concludes with "Israel & the Middle East: Where Breakthroughs Happen" presented by the Consulate General of Israel to the Southeast Sunday, April 3rd from 10:30 PM to 4:00 PM. The annual student conference, sponsored in part by Hillels of Georgia, the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, Emory Students for Israel, and Dawgs for Israel, will be held at the Marcus Hillel Center at Emory University. This year's conference includes presentations by Opher Aviran, Consul General of Israel to the Southeast, and Ken Stein, professor of contemporary Middle Eastern history and Israeli studies and director of the Institute for the Study of Modern Israel at Emory University. Additional session topics include Israeli business and technology, advocacy through education, building a dialogue on campus, and Israeli culture. This full day of programming is entirely FREE and includes a FREE LUNCH.
Emory Students for Israel is also very busy planning iFest, which will take place on April 14th in Asbury Circle.
Noles for Israel at Florida State University is hosting “Sing Your Heart Out” benefitting Save a Child's Heart on April 11. Consul General Ofer Bavly and Deputy Consul General Paul Hirschson will speak at the event.
The University of Florida Hillel is in the midst of its First Annual Gainesville Film Festival. The festival, which began on March 14th and runs to March 29th, features films presenting a dynamic and exciting perception of Judaism and the global Jewish community. The festival is held at the Hippodrome Theater and admission is FREE to the public. For more information visit UF Hillel’s Facebook page.
