The group has decided to focus their attention on Israel's positive role in the international community, and specifically on the fact that Israel is always one of the top contributing countries when it comes to international aid following national disasters. Whether it be in the Asian tsunami of a few years ago, Hurricane Katrina, the earthquake in Haiti, or the most recent earthquake and tsunami that tragically hit Japan, Israel is always willing and prepared to send dozens of professionals and literally tons of supplies to help those affected. These stories are not often covered, so MSI is running a poster campaign across campus highlighting these remarkable accomplishments. MSI is also teaming up with various strong allies on campus that have shared values and can help spread this message more effectively.
Realizing the importance of "knowing your audience" when deciding how to convey one's message, Miami Students for Israel is making different posters to hang up in different departments. The group will also table and pass out literature to students. The campaign will finally culminate in a final fundraiser that will raise money for IsraAID or ZAKA, two organizations that are deeply involved with these international relief efforts.
This campaign, as mentioned earlier, is only the culmination of what has been a busy and successful year for the group. The organization has had many speakers such as Noam Bedein, Ilan Berman, Moshe Katz, and Yaakov Katz, and held a screening of U.N. Me earlier this semester. Many members of the group took Israel Inside/Out which helped them gain knowledge about the country that they love and support, and one of their members went on the Hasbara mission to Israel this past Winter. Congratulations to Miami Students for Israel for all your hard work, and good luck to all the other schools who are working just as hard!
