Viral Rally for Gilad

Students at UC Irvine are rallying support for Gilad Shalit through a viral internet campaign.

 

They created the following Facebook event:

Gilad Shalit is expected to be returned to Israel tomorrow, after being held in isolation by Hamas in the Gaza Strip for over 5 years.

The student-led campaign calls on people around the world to wear a blue shirt to stand up for the preservation of human rights and to celebrate the return of Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier who has been held in Hamas captivity for over 5 years.

The Facebook event was created by Hasbara Fellow and Orange County Hillel Student and Social Media Intern, Ari Friedman.

While the Shalit deal has sparked mixed reactions, it is important to show our solidarity with the Shalit family and all of Israel.
