Hi Everyone –
As we wrap up an exciting week of the Hasbara Campus Pulse, it is incredible to see how many student activists are already hard at work planning a phenomenal semester of Israel activism!
Stay tuned to the Campus Pulse, which gets updated about twice a day, and will be filled with up-to-the-minute events happening all across the US and Canada. If you have events, articles or reports worthy of submission to the Pulse, email them to our webmaster – we would love to feature you!
Israel programming is under way in sunny Florida! At the University of Florida, the ever-strategic Gators for Israel, led by Rafael Yaniz, Micah Lutkowitz and Hasbara Fellow Claire Miller, and supported by Rabbi Daniel Wolnerman and Hillel Director Keith Dvorchik, are off to a fantastic start. GFI has lined up an exclusive event for campus leaders featuring the university president and the Israeli consul general, just one in a series of events designed to engage and educate student leaders. GFI is also planning an in-depth Israel education and advocacy series for their core membership.
At Florida State University, Noles for Israel – led by Hasbara Fellows Ilana Goldenberg, Daniel Ackerman, Ron Barhai, and Rachel Tenenbaum – held a wonderful inaugural meeting where they educated their peers about threats facing Israel on campus, and motivated everyone to get involved with their proactive initiatives. Their priorities for the year include engaging the Christian and African-American communities on campus, increased educational opportunities for their membership, and raising the profile of Israel on campus.
At Florida International University, Hasbara Fellow Rebecca Stirling is involved in the creating of a new Israel group, with plans to launch an Iran awareness campaign, and host Jerusalem Post correspondent Gil Hoffman.
I also had the pleasure of meeting this week with many of Hasbara’s partner organizations at the Israel on Campus Coalition in Washington, DC. Hasbara proudly serves as a Steering Committee member of this coalition of 30+ organizations dedicated to providing resources on campus – check them out! Special shout out to the ICC staff, as well as representatives from The David Project, Hillel, the American-Israel Cooperative Enterprise, the ADL, Stand With Us, and the JCRC for working to provide students with resources for countering anti-Israel efforts on their campuses this fall. Hasbara also wished to thank other strategic partners who are making Hasbara initiatives a priority this fall, including Alpha Epsilon Pi, Jerusalem Online University, the Israeli Department of Academic Affairs, and Aish Connections – more details to come soon!
Have a meaningful fast everyone – and get psyched for an awesome year of Israel activism!
