Florida Loves Israel!

Feb 7, 2012

By Rebecca Sterling

Last weekend, Noles for Israel at Florida State University hosted a state-wide conference for Israel advocates. The “Florida Loves Israel” Conference (FLI) was attended by 130 students, representing nearly every university in Florida.

The 4-day conference included meetings with representatives at the State Capitol, a Shabbat experience, and an intensive series of training sessions. Hasbara Fellowships staff was on hand to educate students how to create and sustain a pro-Israel club on campus, communicate effectively for Israel, and engage campus media.

Hasbara Fellowships commends the FSU student organizers, including Hasbara Fellows and Noles for Israel executive board members Daniel Ackerman, Harrison DuBosar, and Rachel Tenenbaum. Congratulations to all the participants, as well as the many local and national organizations that lent support to this effort.

What's next in Florida? Empowered FLI students from Florida International University, University of South Florida and University of Central Florida are already organizing Hasbara Fellowships’ “Israel Peace Week” on their campuses, and many other local schools are expected to participate in this campaign about Israel's efforts for peace.
