Activism Training in Arizona and Southern California

Sep 20, 2010

by: Alan Levine

A very important part of pro-Israel activism is educating our base.  Though we must always reach out to those who have not yet joined the pro-Israel movement, it is very important to educate our own committed activists.  They need to know the issues well and learn how to articulate Israel’s message.

There is no better time to prepare your Pro-Israel student group than the beginning of the school year. With the help of Hasbara’s films and activism training sessions, various schools around the Southwest are doing just that.

I had the pleasure of addressing SC Students for Israel at the University of Southern California during their first meeting of the year.  I briefed the students on the most recent international efforts to delegitimize Israel and explained why the college campus is the ideal place to fight back. We also discussed various activism training opportunities and strategy for the year.

The group, led by Hasbara Fellows Stephanie Aziz, Kevin Javidzad and Shanel Melamed will be further educating their members with a screening of Crossing the Line, followed by an event to train fraternity brothers from Alpha Epsilon Pi and Sigma Alpha Mu on pro-Israel activism skills.

Event locations will be undisclosed to the public, as this is a private event, but feel free to contact me for more information.

Sundevils for Israel at Arizona State University hosted a screening of The Case for Israel: Democracy’s Outpost. The film, based on Alan Dershowitz’s book, The Case for Israel, is a great tool to teach Israel supporters how to advocate and speak up for Israel.

Looking forward to a successful year at these two schools and around the country!
