Philadelphia Region Update

Sep 20, 2010
Hey everyone,

This is Gabe Toran, Hasbara's new Campus Coordinator for the Philadelphia region. I am a senior at Temple University and very excited to be working with the Hasbara staff and the rest of the fellows on campus in Philadelphia and New Jersey.

I just wanted to let everyone know that we have a few new campaigns this year and are already working hard to bring some speakers to campus. This October we have Aryeh Green of Jerusalem's Media Central coming to the States, and he will be coming to Philly, to Temple and Drexel, on October 18th. Hasbara Fellows Becky Arden of Temple, and Shani Weiss of Drexel are already working hard to bring him in. He will be speaking about democracy and human rights in the Middle East. If anyone is interesting in bringing Aryeh to campus please let contact me at gtoran@hasbarafellowships.org for more information!

Philadelphia schools just got underway again the past few weeks, and already there is some great planning and initiatives going on. Students at Temple University are planning on hosting their annual "Give Peace a Shot" bar night charity fundraiser again this semester in hopes of creating awareness of peace in the Middle East. There is also word going around that student leaders (including Hasbara Fellow Rebecca Borison) at UPenn are trying to organize a Philadelphia campus-wide Israel group that would connect all the Israel groups on campus for ease of collaboration, communication and coalition building among the groups. The year has barely just begun, and it already has the framework for greatness.

Don't forget to sign up for Israel Inside/Out and earn $100 easily by doing so! Already completed the course? Email me for more information on how you can earn money by recruiting students to the course!
