BC's Eagles Are Already Soaring

Feb 5, 2013

By: Molly Tobin

With the Spring Semester underway, students throughout New England are enthusiastically planning events for the coming months.  At Boston College there is a resurgence of pro-Israel energy as Hasbara Fellows have recently worked to reestablish their pro-Israel group, Eagles for Israel.

Thanks to the leadership of Hasbara Fellows, Alex Friedman, Mike Woodbury, and Andrew Ferenczi, the Eagle’s are preparing for Boston College’s first Israel Peace Week (IPW). As a kickoff to their week of programming, they plan to host an Israeli culture night. This will be an opportunity for students to meet members of Eagles for Israel, eat some delicious falafel, and learn about Israel’s efforts and desire for peace. The students will continue their efforts throughout the week to ensure that BC’s first IPW will make a lasting impression on students.

In another part of Massachusetts at Clark University, Clarkies Helping and Advocating for Israel (CHAI) also have big plans for Israel Peace Week. Hasbara Fellows Laina Pauker, Justin Leopold-Cohen and Anna Blum have helped to develop plans for an energetic, thoughtful and meaningful week. Throughout the week CHAI will be sponsoring social gatherings, speakers, and musicians as mechanisms to engage Clark students in thoughtful discussion and illustrate Israel’s desire for peace.

Hasbara fellows throughout New England continue to plan for Israel Peace Week and will orchestrate engaging events on their respective campuses. Fellows will be reuniting this coming weekend for the first time this semester at the New England Spring Semester Kickoff event. This will be a wonderful opportunity for fellows to learn about plans on different campuses and to continue to brainstorm ideas for their own campuses as well.
