The Hasbara Campus Pulse
Midwest Update
Oct 6, 2010
By: Leo Nayfield
Despite the sudden drop in temperature, things in the Midwest are quickly heating up on campuses throughout Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois!
At Miami University , Hasbara Fellows
Paula Mermelstein and
Adam Baer have been active in planning a great semester which includes speakers such as
Noam Bedein,
Moshe Katz, and
Ilan Berman. Miami Students for Israel has been heavily recruiting for Israel Inside/Out, and is working hard to get students to Israel this Winter!
At Ohio State University, Hasbara Fellows Wendy Cohen and Galia Nurko had great results at Hillel’s involvement fair and recruited many new potential members to Israel Action Committee! Students are also finalizing the line-up for Ohio Loves Israel, and with speakers such as Neil Lazarus lined up, it is sure to be a great day. On a related note, a big shout out to Hasbara Fellow Sarah Perrill who successfully and courageously stood up to a professor who tried to spread lies about Israel!
At Indiana University, Fellow Michael Jacobson is undertaking a creative and new PR campaign for Israel, and IU is having their Israel Awareness Week in October which is sure to be a success as much of the campus shows support!
Ishmail Khaldi is speaking throughout the Chicago area in October, and Moshe Katz will be swinging through the Midwest on his tour in the next month as well. To see a calendar with dates of these great events, feel free to email lnayfeld@hasbarafellowships.org so that you can take part in these great opportunities.
With schools finally in session, our work has begun well but must continue. Keep working, keep recruiting for the Hasbara trip, and keep advocating for the country and cause we all love!
