The Hasbara Campus Pulse
"Gaza Freedom Flotilla Survivors"
Oct 7, 2010
Last night was this fall's first large anti-Israel event in Northern California. At UC Berkeley's Law School students and community members went to hear firsthand accounts from "Gaza Freedom Flotilla Survivors," hosted by, surprise surprise, Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and the Muslim Student Association (MSA).
Thankfully pro-Israel activists did not let this event proceed without letting their own side be heard. Students from Tikvah: Students for Israel, Israel Action Committee, and also the Berkeley Hillel Shaliach peacefully stood at the door handing out fliers that told the truth about the flotilla and its "peace activists."
Hasbara thanks these students at Berkeley who took a stand and refused to allow those seeking to destroy Israel a forum to speak free of the truth.
On a brighter note, this past weekend was the third annual Northern California Israel advocacy retreat and it went off without a hitch! Sponsored by the Israel Peace Initiative, Hasbara Fellowships, The David Project, and StandWithUs, this all day mini-retreat trained students on campuses around Northern California, including UC Santa Cruz, UC Berkeley, San Jose State, SF State, and CSU Chico. Students learned how to "street debate," how to implement an effective media campaign, how to plan successful events, and much more. I look forward to working with these students back on their campuses to apply the skills they learned and be effective advocates for Israel!
CALLING ALL NORCAL STUDENTS! If you are planning, or have recently put on a successful event or counter-event and would like to spread the word in this weekly blog, email me at
