The Hasbara Campus Pulse
Central Canada Update

Fellows in Central Canada are continuing to plan programming for the rest of the semester and the beginning of next semester. In Winnipeg, Lauren Slusky at the University of Manitoba has been working hard to ensure Hillel has some great programming. She is organizing a screening of Unsettled, a moving documentary following the lives of young Israelis during the 2005 Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.
Following the movie will be a riveting discussion. The movie will be this Saturday after Shabbat. Fellow, Paul Meyerson, at the University of Winnipeg, is also working on some op-eds for campus and local Jewish media, and brainstorming future programs.
Business students at both the University of Winnipeg and University of Manitoba are getting excited for the launch of the Jewish Business Network (JBN) @ Winnipeg next Tuesday! The inaugural event is a Networking event and student organizers are very honoured to have Dr. Henri Rothschild, President and CEO of ISTP Canada as the Keynote Speaker. Dr. Rothschild is in Winnipeg for a global business trade show, Centrallia, and since part of his work is incubating Israeli high-tech start ups, he will be bringing representatives from these Israeli companies with him.
Many students in Winnipeg are currently taking the Israel Inside/Out online course, and I will be leading a class on Current Trends in Israel on October 31 for these students and others interested in learning.
At the University of Alberta, Hillel Executives are preparing for classes led by Hillel Canada and University Outreach Committee staff.
