Friday night, October 15th in Boston 50 top Israel activists representing Harvard, Tufts, Boston University, Emerson, Brandeis, Northeastern, Wellesley College, and Babson came together for feasting, singing, but above all, collaboration. The night was an immediate success when pro Israel group board members from each school shared and presented past accomplishments and future endeavors.
Friday night, October 15th in Boston 50 top Israel activists representing Harvard, Tufts, Boston
University, Emerson, Brandeis, Northeastern, Wellesley College, and Babson came together for
feasting, singing, but above all, collaboration. The night was an immediate success when pro
Israel group board members from each school shared and presented past accomplishments and
future endeavors. Harvard Students For Israel president Danny Brandt shared the plan for this
year’s on campus Israel Fest, even commenting on the difficulty of bringing a camel to Harvard
for the event!
In addition to the campus representatives there were ranking officials from the local federation,
CJP’s Nathan Ciccolo, and Ilana Snapstailer of the Israeli foreign consulate to New England.
Adam Teitelbaum, the International Director of Jewish Programming for Alpha Epsilon Pi
(AEPi) was also in attendance with a strong showing of pro Israel AEPi brothers.
Some of the memorable moments include the failed attempt of rallying everyone to sing “Am
Yisrael Chai,” and Rabbi Chananel Weiner’s speech about standing against the tides of anti
Israel sentiment on campus just as our forefathers stood up in their times. Arielle Adler, VP
of BU Students for Israel, Hasbara fellow 2009, demanded to get up and in a heartfelt speech
declared that Hasbara Fellowships was indeed “The best two weeks of my life!” and encouraged
those who have not gone to go and/or get your friends to go.
While the group shared many ideas during dinner, a highlight was an overview of the successful
15 Seconds, Sderot campaign run by Tufts Students for Israel, Daniel Bleibart, President TSI,
and Noa Naftali, VP TSI and Hasbara Fellow 2010.
All in all, the successful Hasbara Fellowship dinner left everyone feeling inspired and motivated
to get back to campus and bring peace to the Middle East. Oh, they also left with their stomachs
full.
