The Hasbara Campus Pulse
A Busy Week for Ontario Israel Advocates
Nov 2, 2010
This week has been busy as always for Ontario Israel advocates!
Students at York were disturbed to see that one of their Professors had made the hateful claim that Hillel was not right to advocate for the state of Israel. Said professor aired his grievances in a letter to the President of the University and the situation became public when the school newspaper reported about the letter last week. Hasbara Fellowship commends the great things that Hillel@York has been doing to stand tall and in support of their right to represent Israel, the historic homeland of the Jewish people!
Join Hillel@York on Monday, November 1, at 12:30pm, as they march from the Hillel (Student Center room 442) to the history department to show the school that they are proud to be agents for Peace and Democracy! For more information on the march please visit the facebook event. Great job to Hillel President and Hasbara Fellow Brandon Crandall for a great showing of leadership in planning this march!
This week, students at U of T and Ryerson had the displeasure of hosting Norman Finkelstein for a series of lectures featuring his usual anti-Israel rhetoric. Great job to all of the students who came down to the event to hand out fliers, asking those in attendance to seek a balanced opinion when listening to Finkelstein’s extremely biased views. Shout-outs to Hasbara Fellows Adina Ander, Eitan Gilboord, Esther Mendelsohn, as well as Beca Bookman, Chaim Lax, Naomi Matlow, and Tommy Sasson for bravely coming out to raise awareness of the untold narrative that would be missing at the event!
This week many schools in Ontario have the pleasure of welcoming Gil Hoffman and Neil Lazarus:
• Gill Hoffman will be at York University this Thursday and at Western next Monday, November 8.
• Neil Lazarus will be at Queens University this Friday and at McMaster next Monday, November 8.
• Both speakers are featured on Hasbara’s recommended speakers list and are not to be missed!
For a full list of events in your area, check out the events calendar, and as always, feel free to E-mail me at nschneider@hasbarafellowships.org if you’d like to spotlight an upcoming pro-Israel event on your Ontario campus!
