The Op-Ed Ultimate Challenge

Are you a skilled writer? Have you published or are planning to publish a great pro-Israel article this semester?

If so, you are eligible for the first annual Hasbara Fellowships Spring 2012 Op-Ed Writing Competition!

GUIDELINES

Students are invited to participate in this semester long contest.  Prizes will be awarded to the best pro-Israel articles through May 2011.

Articles must be:

  1. Written by a student (you!)
  2. Published in a campus newspaper, either online or in print
  3. Covering one of the following topics:
    • Your experience in Israel
    • The Iranian threat
    • The importance of the U.S.-Israel Friendship
    • The importance of the Canadian-Israeli Friendship
    • Israel’s leadership in environmental sustainability and green technology
    • Israel’s contributions through humanitarian aid around the world
    • Human Rights in the Middle East
    • Israel’s efforts for peace
    • Obstacles to Middle East peace
    • Israel's democratic values and institutions
  4. Submitted to Hasbara Fellowships staff through OpEdChallenge@hasbarafellowships.org the same week they are published

Submitted articles will be judged by Hasbara Fellowship staff based on message, argument structure, timeliness, and writing skill.

AWARDS

1st prize: $250, and the winning article will be featured on the "Hasbara Angle"

2nd prize: $150, and the article will be featured on the “Hasbara Angle”

3rd prize: $100 and the the article will be featured on the "Hasbara Angle"

*Many more prizes and prize money available for honorable mentions.

DEADLINE AND SUBMISSIONS

Please submit your articles no later than May 30, 2011 to director@hasbarafellowships.org the same week they are published.
